Miri Ben-Ari plays Symphony of Brotherhood before US president at Bostons Symphony Hall.<snip>
"Israeli musician Miri Ben-Ari said she wanted her performance opening a fundraiser for US President Barack Obama Monday night to start the event on a very high note. And that is what she literally did with her violin, on which she reaches high up the scale playing jazz, hip-hop and other musical riffs not traditionally associated with this instrument.
For her performance before Obama at Bostons Symphony Hall, she played Symphony of Brotherhood, which samples Martin Luther King Jr.s I Have a Dream speech.
Ben-Ari, who is also a US citizen, herself speaks of the dream she made come true by moving to America soon after finishing her service with the IDF. She told The Jerusalem Post that was why she wanted to help ensure that Obama remained president.
I came her with a violin and a dream, she said. I was pursuing the American dream. I believe that President Obama is the only one in this race with a vision for... protecting and keeping this dream.

(50,254 posts)It's as if they're Israelis are disloyal if they AREN'T demanding a Romney landslide. The commenters all but equated Obama with Hitler and the U.S. with Nazi Germany(even though the U.S. is now a country that is freer of antisemitism than any other place on the planet).
Which is stupid, because Romney's position( which is basically unquestioning support of everything Bibi is doing and ever WILL do)can only hurt Israel, since nothing Bibi is doing is good for the security of that country. Bibi doesn't WANT peace...he just wants to be able to say "We WON!"-which is a stupid and useless thing to want(especially since victory, in the military sense, is impossible for either side and couldn't have any positive results even if it DID occur).

(41,209 posts)You get similar stuff in the comments sections in British newspapers, especially in the Mail and the Telegraph, but even the Guardian and the BBC comments section attract some right-wing nuts. There are blatant BNP supporters who come regularly into Torygraph comment threads; and since the newspapers went online, American teabagger types join in too.
To go back to the specific topic, these are some pretty vile remarks!
