Poll finds Israelis high on Trump, while rest of world takes dim view of US leader

Favorability rating of US goes up under new administration, with 83% of Israelis expressing confidence in US president’s foreign affairs chops and over 60% happy with handling of Mideast.

Israelis have the most favorable view of the United States in the world, while Washington’s image has deteriorated sharply among the majority of countries since US President Donald Trump’s return, a global survey said Wednesday.

The Pew Research Center found that the favorability of the United States has dropped in 15 of the 24 countries surveyed since last year. However in Israel, which has enjoyed robust support from its ally in the war against Hamas in Gaza, support grew, with 83 percent reporting a favorable opinion of the United States, six percent higher than last year.
