Jordan's king urges Israel, Palestinians to talk

In meeting with AIPAC delegation, King Abdullah II warns failure to revive peace talks adding to regional tensions, calls on Israel to stop settlement construction.

Jordan's king has warned that the failure to revive peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians is adding to regional tensions. A statement from the royal palace said King Abdullah II told a delegation from the Washington-based American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) that regional changes tied to the Arab Spring should "drive" the Israeli government to "embrace peace." In his talks Monday with the pro-Israel group, the king also called on Israel to stop measures that he said hinder peace efforts, including West Bank settlement construction.

But he has neither the intelligence or character to address them.

If he had these, his prime objective would be to create a path toward the elimination of his own position via the introduction of a democratic rule. But this is a guy who hasn't the guts to decline an invitation to address a random collection of AIPAC delegates. Think about it. AIPAC is an Israeli lobby designed to address and even named to address another country entirely than Jordan. But this "king", realizing his position as subservient to the subservient, kowtows.
