by "national coalition", I am assuming he means working with Fatah (effectively speaking, there's basically the same useless "two party system" in those parts)--but in the recent past, he has expressed strongly anti-Abbas views and signalled against reconciliation. I'm not sure why he's saying this now, but it may have something to do with Hamas' internal struggle at the moment.
It is not getting the proper press (for obvious reasons of party discipline), but there is a burgeoning rift within Hamas that I find interesting (and I rarely, if ever, use the word "interesting" in a positive connotation). The newer Qatari $ponsor$hip of the posh Mishaal political faction (and the virulently sectarian ideology that they're pushing along with the cash) is losing credibility with the rank and file members in Gaza, particularly with Izzadine al-Qassam members that remember the long-standing and important cooperation and friendship that Iran and Hizbu'llah have shown them. The starkly and increasingly sectarian nature of the war imposed by the foreign powers on Syria is having extensive consequences to other matters.
