1. This is a wonderful organisation that does great work...

You can read more about the volunteers of Shevet Achim here:-

http://www.shevet.org/our-community/volunteer-testimonials

At a time when Christian organisations are seemingly more and more obsessed with mean-spirited and reactionary political causes, it is very heartening to see people (mostly but not exclusively American) who are embracing the compassionate aspects of Christianity.

I will definitely try and send these people a few dollars.

2. Thank you I'm not understand why the OP left that part out

They had been brought to Israel by Shevet Achim, an Israel-based Christian organization that has been arranging for Palestinian, Jordanian, Kurdish and now Syrian children to come to Israel for almost two decades to undergo life-saving heart surgery.

and you're right they are a most worthy organization

3. Perhaps that was a bit disappointing...

I am sure the Syrian families are grateful to the Israeli doctors who treated them, and to the Israeli hospitals that in many cases accept a reduced fee for treating these children.

But I am sure they would probably be equally grateful to the white Christian Europeans (to borrow another poster's turn of phrase) that funded and arranged for this treatment to be carried out in the first place. Admittedly, the article as well as the OP tended to gloss over the contributions of these people.

As for some of the more whimsical curlicues in the article, including for example the random, pistol-wielding passerby that the hospital inexplicably allowed to stay at the bedside of an unaccompanied young girl, well, I suppose that they are forgivable indulgences in the context of what is indeed a very worthwhile story.

pistol-wielding passerby that the hospital inexplicably allowed to stay at the bedside of an unaccompanied young girl, well,

nothing inexplicable about it....guns are openly carried in israel by all kinds of people in all places, the hospital is no different than an airport, a movie theater or a shopping mall...... (though the background checks are very in-depth within israel)

israel doesnt have the child kidnapping" that you have in the states so there was nothing strange about it.

yeah, and there are no gay people in Iran. Somehow you still have that knack for making the stupidest post in any given thread.

then perhaps dont makes comments about what you don't know about, since you wrote
pistol-wielding passerby that the hospital inexplicably allowed to stay at the bedside of an unaccompanied young girl, well,

i simply corrected you as there is nothing "inexplicable" about it.......not to an israeli

but i do see a interesting change in "culture " here, the idea of calling posters names, seems the levels is dropping to the 6th grade, i congratulate u on adding to it:

7. The misinformation in your post can be found in bold

It was good of you to do that because it makes it easy to spot (and also, I daresay again, sheds some light into where you are coming from).

The organization that funded and arranged for the treatment was an Israeli one. The funding was provided by an Israeli organization, the travel was arranged by an Israeli organization, and the treatment was provided by Israelis.

Incidentally the group does accept donations from people of all races anywhere in the world - so feel free to chip in regardless of your race or continent of origin.

9. It is a Christian organisation

based in Israel, and made up mainly of foreign volunteers from the US and Europe.

I'm not sure why you seem so reluctant to acknowledge that. You are generally happy to note that someone is a white European whenever you feel that that is an implicit criticism against them.

See here for instance:-

and it's a worthy organization that is sadly little know, one would think you might wish to give it greater exposure
