Excerpt:
So as a public service, it is worth reminding everyone that surveys consistently show that a majority of the Israeli public favors a two-state solution. In a June survey for the Truman Institute at Hebrew University, 58 percent of Jews supported the two-state solution, and 62 percent of all Israelis including Arab respondents.
But in addition to polls, there are also election results. Consider the following: Likud-Beitenu, Yesh Atid (Yair Lapids party), Labor, Meretz, Kadima, Hatnua (The Movement Tzipi Livnis party), and Hadash all support the two-state solution, at least in theory.
-Those parties together total 83 Knesset seats.
-Those parties together represent 63.67 percent of the electorate who voted in 2013.
- All of those calculations do not include Shas, which has been known to accept the two-state principle in the past and possibly in the future. Thats another 11 seats and 8 percent of voters.

(12,283 posts)yes most israelis want two states, most israelis would give up most of the settlements as well, just as they did in gaza.
and most israelis dont want the gaza results to happen in the west bank.
thats why you can get a "go" on two states in a poll and central/right wing election result. The first is the ideal, the second is for the reality.
Israeli
(4,159 posts)so you to are an idealist ?

(12,283 posts)i like Meretz because unlike so many other parties they actually do stuff for the citizens as a whole and not just their one demographic that vote for them. (shas being one example)
if i recall correctly yossie sarid when he was minister of education did a lot for the development town of ofikim...the mayor thanked him for all of his efforts and also added that they will still be voting for likud...
so i have some idealism in me and am also are aware of the dangers of unstable non democratic govts....
and i vote for them partly because its comfortable for my conscience as well.
