IDF: Non-Israelis must purchase gas masks

Ahead of predicted US-led attack on Syria, Home Front Command says only citizens are eligible to receive protective kits.

<snip>

"Non-Israeli citizens in the country looking to obtain a gas mask ahead of a predicted US-led attack on Syria will have to purchase one privately, the IDF Home Front Command said on Wednesday.

They added that unless a decision is made by the government to provide gas masks for foreign workers, tourists and other non-citizens in the country, only citizens are eligible to receive the protective kits.

The IDF Spokesperson Command said Wednesday that “the Home Front Command is prepared at all times to supply residents of Israel in times of emergency in the best possible way. The gas mask distribution plan is meant for citizens of the State of Israel and during time of emergency a situation assessment will be made about whether or not to supply gas masks to people who are residing in Israel and are not citizens.”

All week long lines and even fist fights have been reported at distribution centers across the country, and in online forums popular with tourists and foreigners in Israel, there has been much confusion about how to attain a gas mask for those who are not citizens."

The PA should be dissolved. It has no sovereignty. Israel should assume security responsibility for those areas under its sovereignty, including both Gaza and the West Bank in their entirety.

The creation of the Palestinian Authority was the only successful portion of the Oslo agreements. The only one. And as we've seen, its main function has been for Israel to claim Palestinians have self-rule, while very often making policy demands to the PA according to Israel's current desires.

Though, bless their little hearts, the men at the helm of the PA do keep trying. I sometimes wonder what would happen if Abbas actually developed the third testicle he'd need to carry through one of his four? five? threats to dissolve the PA and leave the West bank and gaza to Israel. And then I realize he's probably the only person who would notice.

if the PA and Hamas wants to equip its people with gas masks then they should do it.

This article is about people in Israel, not in non-Israel controlled areas.

...and then they'd need more funding after that for gas masks they'd never purchase anyway.

Priorities.

Amazing that "friends" of the Palestinians don't hold the PA more accountable to their people, more responsible for state-building, giving equal rights to women, gays, christians, and refugees still within camps in the W.Bank......

It should definitely dissolve itself, or be dissolved otherwise. Those areas are breeding grounds for terrorism as well. All security questions should revert to Israel to prevent terror.

And they would have gas masks provided to them by Israel if the PA had been dissolved. The PA is no good.

are you advocating for one state?

or

are you advocating for a permanent Israel occupation of the West Bank and Palestinians?

But the PA has created a situation in which the forces of international terror flourish in areas nominally under its kinda-jurisdiction. That long-term solution in choosing between giving over a "Palestine," annexing those areas permanently, or whatever, should be, in my opinion, something decided by Israel.
