Israeli airstrikes target Gaza refugee camp

GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli airstrikes on Monday targeted al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip after rockets fired by Palestinians landed in southern Israel.

A Ma'an reporter in Gaza said that no injuries were reported but Israeli jets were still overhead.

Israeli armed forces said in a statement that planes had "targeted two terror sites in the central and southern Gaza Strip," which were "used to enhance terror capabilities against Israel."

"Direct hits were confirmed," the statement added.

Israeli media reported that three rockets were fired at Israeli sites from Gaza including two during the funeral of former prime minister Ariel Sharon, who died Saturday.

I don't think it is slightly. It's a headline grabber though so they go with it. n/t Jefferson23 Jan 2014 #2

Israeli airstrikes DID in fact target a refugee camp in Gaza just as the headline says, did they not?

That you with to invoke lex talionis as a justification doesn't make the headline any less apt.

guess they changed their minds

Israeli media reported that three rockets were fired at Israeli sites from Gaza including two during the funeral of former prime minister Ariel Sharon, who died Saturday.

A Ynet report said that there were no injuries or damage as a result of the rockets, which landed in an open area near the border fence.

The report added that Israeli forces were not "planning to respond."
