noun
1.
(in the Republic of South Africa) a rigid policy of segregation of the nonwhite population.

any system or practice that separates people according to race, caste, etc.
Everybody is starting to talk about Israeli Apartheid.

(3,860 posts)Some say that the term "Israeli Apartheid" is a blood libel.
But what does etc. mean? Every state on earth separates people according to citizenship. That's why we have borders after all. Why is Israel's separation of citizens from non citizens apartheid while places that separate/segregate actual state residents according to ethnicity get a pass? (See Lebanon for example.)
