(34,648 posts)The 29% blaming Hamas to 26% blaming Israel does not surprise me. I wonder if that's within the margin of error.
I expect support to bleed from Israel over them coming weeks on account of the brutality and murder of civilians including around 200 children who could not possibly be Hamas.
its on its way to becoming a wedge issue, probably not there yet though.

(7,650 posts)Watch US news reports, and there's really only one villain in the piece, which is Hamas.
Hamas is the new Arafat.

(37,343 posts)that Hamas exists because Israel lets it.
That could make a lot of sense. If you look at land and home prices in Israel, which are very high, the Settlements make economic sense. From the Israeli perspective. Hamas fires rockets. Israel attacks. Settlements are increased and the Palestinians make good the cost of the military action by Israel by losing land. Hamas in effect, adds value for Israel.
This whole thing has been going on for some time. Hamas has become the replacement for Arafat, who as a leader of the Palestinians was perfect. Corrupt, dangerous and physically repulsive. What more could you ask for if you wanted a failed state?
Maybe the Palestinians should try to stop leaning into that left hook.
