President Hollande says a resolution will be presented to the UNSC that will say very clearly what we expect from the peace process and what the solution to the conflict must be.A solution to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians will be outlined in a UN Security Council resolution, French President Francois Hollande said on Friday evening.
"We will have a resolution, to be presented to the Security Council, that will say very clearly what we expect from the (peace) process and what the solution to the conflict must be," Hollande told reporters in a joint news conference with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, AFP reported.
Hollande said that Israeli-Palestinian negotiations had gone on "too long" and "there is a perception that there will never be a solution to end the conflict, even though we know the outlines" of a possible deal," AFP reported.

The moment has come to stop the policy that wants to create a fait accompli - the policy of Apartheid, established by Israel and equally the colonization and the confiscation of land in the West Bank and including East Jerusalem."

France would present a resolution to the United Nations Security Council calling for a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on the 1967 borders, French President Francois Hollande announced on Friday in a joint press conference with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Paris.
We will have a resolution, to be presented to the Security Council, that will say very clearly what we expect from the (peace) process and what the solution to the conflict must be, AFP quoted President Hollande as saying in the press conference.
"[T]here is a perception that there will never be a solution to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, even though we know the outlines of a possible agreement, he said.
President Abbas on his part called on all nations to do their part to end the conflict, the French press agency said.
Making peace will give added legitimacy to the fight against terrorism in the region, he added.
From Paris Abbas is scheduled to leave for New York where he is expected to promote the most recent Palestinian push for a final peace agreement and independence, this time from within the UN and with is backed by the Arab League.

The Arab League isn't exactly what it was in 2002, pre-Arab Spring.

(30,099 posts)their dream for a viable state. For the sake of peace for future generations I would
hope the US would be bold, abstain from UNSC votes regarding Israel.
The Palestinians should not end up with a bantustan.

(58,724 posts)Is there something that the Palestinians have more than a snowball's chance in hell of making happen?
Since they should not end up with a bantustan, what should they end up with that they have a chance for and how should they go about making that happen and what can we do to help?

When one protests, they make their demands known..which is the WB, EJ as their capital,
negotiate/compensation on RoR. Israel selected the valuable resources of that land in the WB
for a reason, they have no intentions of giving it up...ever.
Abbas is neither for violence, which is commendable and the right thing to do and he is
also not for calling for peaceful demonstrations..he has not signed the Rome Statute,
at least not yet. There are problems brewing within the factions, nothing new but
significant nonetheless.
I don't feel there is much any one US citizen can do with the exception of questioning
the appropriateness of US policy to their elected representatives...that's the snowballs
chance in hell aspect changing. One can stand in solidarity through protests too and
to raise money for relief efforts etc, but one must be realistic as to how far those
efforts can go.
They do have something other causes don't always have in abundance, and that is their cause does resonant
with citizens around much of the world. How they make use of that in time before a defeat,
I have no idea..things can erupt that no one is ever sure about, politics is a precarious thing.

Let's hope we can get there sooner rather than later.
