Related: About this forumWhat is the vision of Jews who want to replace Al Aqsa mosque with temple?
http://mondoweiss.net/2014/11/vision-replace-mosqueThese Jews explained that when the temple is rebuilt, no Muslim holy places would remain on the Temple Mount or Haram al Sharif, as Muslims describe the site. How the Muslim sites would be removed these Jews could not say. We dont know the exact detail, said a psychotherapist who gave his name as Yechiel Israel. There are hints, he said: earthquake or war. He pointed out that a Lubavitcher rabbi advised in 1967 that the Israeli army blow up the Al Aqsa mosque and Dome of the Rockand the Six Day War had been a window of opportunity that wasnt taken (video below).
---
Ynet reported that the demonstrators chanted in Hebrew, The mosque will burn, the temple rebuilt. And one demonstrator said to me that the Western Wall was merely the wrapping on the Haram-al-Sharif/Temple Mount, as if the plateau was a gift from God to the Jews.
Many of the demonstrators wore masks to impersonate Rabbi Yehuda Glick, the third temple activist who was shot a week before, allegedly by a Palestinian, after such a demonstration. Glick is still in the hospital in serious condition; his alleged assailant was killed by Israeli police. Here are three boys wearing those masks.

I can think of nothing that would get every kill crazed Muslim in the region to boil over the border faster than trying to turn that mosque into a temple.

The nutballs who want to blow up the Mosque and build a 3rd Temple there are absolute maniacs.
Where you and I disagree is that I believe Hamas and the PA are every bit as whacko as these nutballs. Hamas and the PA are even more ridiculously extreme, and yet the Team Palestine contingent here will claim they're more moderate than Netanyahu (even Hamas is more moderate than Bibi according to BDS cheerleaders here at DU).
So it turns out you're the ones defending extreme whackjobs, running cover for them, deflecting towards Israeli actions. You're the ones here who will of course support a future Palestinian Hamastan, no matter whether it becomes as extreme as ISIS. So long as such a state exists, you'll all defend it while continuing to rail against Israel, no matter whether Israel becomes the most liberal/progressive nation on the planet.

I will fully admit I cannot understand the devotion, feelings and thoughts of the Israelis or the Palestinians.
I was not raised from day one being told that I was part of the Abrahamic God's chosen people and that all the land that the Israelis claim was given to my people by the God of Abraham until the end of time. In fact, I was raised as a Southern Baptist and one of the best coups any Southern Baptist could have is to convert a Jewish person to Christianity. We had one convert in our congregation that the preacher often mentioned. Not a very enlightened outlook and one I fortunately rejected completely as I grew older.
Just as I cannot understand the intricacies of Islam. I can sympathize with the discontent of Palestinians that they have been removed from lands they and their ancestors inhabited for generations. We European immigrants to North America did the same thing to Indigenous Peoples that had lived for thousands of years in North America. It was not pretty and it was not right. We also did it in the name of taking over the lands for our God and righteous people over the heathens who inhabited it at the time.
When it comes to Jerusalem it gets even more difficult for me to understand - a Westerner in the US who grew up in the deep South. The US is such a young nation we don't really have any truly "holy" sites.
I appreciate that people venerate places that have been the site of worship, wars for survival of their race and unity in the past. How could you not?
Why though, if one is able to have a relationship with their God, either personally, or through a church or mosque anywhere is a physical site so important to the worship of a deity that is everywhere and everything? Our Abrahamic God is supernatural by any definition of the word. He doesn't just hear us when we pray in one place. He hears our prayers wherever we are. Or so I'm told by religious leaders of every stripe.
Over that last few thousand years we've built many Temples, Mosques and Christian Churches. I don't believe we need a single Holy of the Holies for the High Priest to speak with God in one location any longer. I think God is bigger than that. I believe the symbology of worshiping at a site of past events is appropriate. I just don't believe it is worth killing others in the name of the SAME God. We also did that in the "New World Colonies." Baptists were executed on multiple occasions for being in non-Baptist enclaves/colonies. Despite the fact that all of the Protestant sects were worshiping the same God.
There is a heck of a lot of arable land on this Earth still. Why can't we decide to share it and be neighbors? I'm pretty sick of the "I'm right, my culture/religion is right and YOU and yours are all WRONG" way we approach this world.
Okay, flame-retardant suit is on. Let go on me.

Oops, I worded things poorly. I meant I edited because what I typed earlier was not clear and could have been taken in a negative light. I meant I apologize for being stupid and incorrect.
