Visit the parks to see how East Jerusalem is being made Jewish and the lives of its Palestinian residents made miserable.Since the annexation of East Jerusalem to Israel, Israeli governments have established five national parks on annexed land. Another three parks are currently in preliminary planning. The parks border populated Palestinian neighborhoods, and in some cases encroach on the neighborhoods proper. No construction is allowed in national parks. Therefore, declaring areas as national parks serves as a means of restricting construction and development of Palestinian neighborhoods in Jerusalem. The establishment of the parks promotes an agenda of ensuring a Jewish majority in Jerusalem, creating a contiguous bloc of lands with no Palestinian population, and expanding the Jewish presence in East Jerusalem.

(30,099 posts)In early 2010 the Jerusalem Municipality filed with the local planning committee a plan for a tourist park. The planned park, Garden of the King, is to be located in the al-Bustan neighborhood of Silwan. According to the plan, the parks development called for the demolition of structures in the neighborhoods western part (at least 22), whereas structures in the eastern part (about 66) would receive retroactive approval along with increased building rights. The plan ostensibly allows residents evacuated from the western part of the neighborhood build new homes in its eastern part. Yet the plan ignores the fact that the city has neither the power nor the capacity to allow people to build homes on land privately owned by residents in the eastern part of the neighborhood. It also ignores the municipalitys strict criteria for approving construction by local residents in East Jerusalem. These obstacles may leave no alternate housing solutions for people whose homes in the western part of the neighborhood will be demolished. The plan was approved by the local planning committee in June 2010 and is currently waiting to be presented before the District Committee.

(14,851 posts)Seems that's a commen and disgusting complaint in a few cities.
Not in any country surrounding Jerusalem tho because they kicked all the Jews out of their countries a long time ago.
A few are left in Turkey and Iran.

(30,099 posts)including the US.. but do keep up your pathetic strawman arguments.
Take your complaints to B'tselem..most Israeli nationalists despise the group but
they are a respected Israeli human rights group throughout the world.

(14,851 posts)I have a problem with it being acceptable here by some posts on DU and also extremist right wing groups and sites, to talk about Judaizing and De-Judaizing areas.
A lot of us Jews here were products of families where they de-Judaized areas usually by expulsion or murder.
In fact there's only 2 countries in the world that have over a million Jews living there, Jews have been de-Judaized from every single country they ever lived.

(58,724 posts)Upon its capture, the Jordanians immediately expelled all the Jewish residents of the Jewish Quarter. 58 synagogues were destroyed.[14][15] The ancient Jewish cemetery on Mount of Olives was desecrated, and the tombstones there were used for construction and paving roads.[16] Jordan also destroyed the Jewish villages of Atarot and Neve Yaakov just north of Jerusalem (their sites became Jerusalem neighborhoods after 1967).

strawman positions.
You had better hope the Palestinians do not go through the international courts,
they have no legal obligation to negotiate what is their land.
