Israel/Palestine
Related: About this forumSite list please.
Could you please provide a list of acceptable sites here from which to post from? I don't understand locking a story of a family missing its slain son/brother, but knowing which are not acceptable would be a great help.
Thanks,
polly

(20,582 posts)I'd like an actual list.
I hope you find what you are looking for.

(58,724 posts)Just general guidelines.
Sites like AP, Reuters, Ha'aretz, Ma'an, etc.
polly7
(20,582 posts)Maybe others could chime in and we could come up with an 'acceptable' list and even better, a 'non-acceptable' one. It's hard for me, as someone who doesn't post here much but is very interested in the group and stories to have even an idea of what will be locked and what won't.

(58,724 posts)Or you can send a message to one of the admins - or post a question to Ask the Administrators.
This thread, I think, may be locked since it is not based on any news article.

(20,582 posts)used previously with no lock.
And yes, I have no doubt this one will be locked also ....... I just hope a list is provided first.

(58,724 posts)Sites like Mondoweiss and Middle East Monitor are good though, right?
polly7
(20,582 posts)Are those allowed, or not allowed?
oberliner
(58,724 posts)That's the problem with asking for a list - there is not consistent enforcement.
People on one side of the debate think that the crazy pro-Israeli sites are allowed but the crazy pro-Palestinian sites are not and that it is unfair, people on the other side think the opposite.
In the olden days, articles had to be from straight up news sources (like Reuters, AP, etc.) but since DU2 came into being it's been pretty haphazard.
polly7
(20,582 posts)I realize that this group is to be safe from any anti-semitic rhetoric (and rightly so), but perfectly factual and innocent articles are contained in many sites that I don't know would be allowed or not, is Mondoweiss banned here?
oberliner
(58,724 posts)Some would argue that Mondoweiss is a vanity blog and not a legitimate news site, whereas others would say that it is.
Whether or not it gets locked may depend on the content of the article.
Full disclosure: I am not a fan of Mondoweiss myself.
polly7
(20,582 posts)Israeli people, only the plight of Palestinians and the actions of some of Israel's leaders, the conflict, etc. - which can be backed up by many other sources, so those articles from Mondoweiss I've found interesting may be ok. That's good to know.

(45,850 posts)Middle East Monitor somewhat the same
oberliner
(58,724 posts)It seems to be somewhat variable. At least relative to the olden days.
