Mossad contradicted Netanyahu on Iran nuclear programme

Less than a month after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's 2012 warning to the UN General Assembly that Iran was 70 per cent of the way to completing its "plans to build a nuclear weapon", Israel's intelligence service believed that Iran was "not performing the activity necessary to produce weapons".

A secret cable obtained by Al Jazeera's Investigative Unit reveals that Mossad sent a top-secret cable to South Africa on October 22, 2012 that laid out a "bottom line" assessment of Iran's nuclear work.

It appears to contradict the picture painted by Netanyahu of Tehran racing towards acquisition of a nuclear bomb.

Writing that Iran had not begun the work needed to build any kind of nuclear weapon, the Mossad cable said the Islamic Republic's scientists are "working to close gaps in areas that appear legitimate such as enrichment reactors".

That would never happen, except whenever he opens his mouth.

He is not bound by truth or morality in his pursuit of Greater Israel.

to further the goal of a greater Israel. Genocide, targeting civilians, stealing land, other forms of state terror, all are acceptable in the furtherance of Eretz Israel. His only morality is his conviction that whatever he does is justified by the essential correctness of his goal.

And what is disgusting is that it is so transparent, yet the US lets him get away with it and even encourages him.

That's the only thing I can think of. They might have wanted a second opinion, and Sud Afrique is friendly with Iran.

they did collaborate on nukes, but that was during the apartheid days when SA and Israel saw eye to eye.

The IAEA remarked about how forthcoming the outgoing apartheid regime was when it fessed up to having a nuclear weapons program. They happily walked the IAEA through the whole thing and handed everything over, lest Mandela's men gain access to so much as a party sparkler. One of those instances where racism worked to everyone's benefit.

Or something like this maybe.

Cape Town - A leaked spy cable shows that a Somali cellphone number used by an associate of a senior al-Shabaab member and al-Qaeda associate was in contact with South African cellphone numbers for three months in 2009.

This has emerged from a leaked spy cable from Britain's MI6 dated 11 November 2009, in which subscriber details were requested for the South African cellphone numbers.

Al Jazeera obtained hundreds of leaked secret intelligence documents from spy agencies around the world.
The cable reads as follows: "Intercept shows that Somali mobile was in contact with South African mobiles during the period of 1 March to 1 June 2009.
