On edit - i loved the flying nun, mister ed, my uncle the martian, my mother the car, and all the other goofy fun tv shows of the 60's....

I've been a fan of Sally Field since her jaw-dropping performance in Sybil, such an amazing contrast to her earlier, lighter characters. What an amazing human being, and an amazing actor.

3. Can we think of better( i.e. less awkward) terminology than "ally" for straight people who are with us politically? ( It's worse than, ugh, "righteous gentile"... which implies that the default position for gentiles is "unrighteous" --- I HOPE not); 4. Let's hear from SAM!

but this speech is great. I can't imagine her performance on Brothers and Sisters wasn't informed by raising Sam.

I remember going to Gidget movies... the last one I went to was Gidget Goes to Rome.

Now that I'm thoroughly dated I'll slink back to bed with some more Nyquil. Damn this cold.
