FUCK THE LGBT PEOPLE! It's all about the atheletes!

I think I'm fucking going to throw up. Thats the message I seem to be hearing from many.

It's this simple, if you don't support boycotting the Olympics or moving them, thats what your saying to us.

But I don't think that is going to happen.

I think the only recourse left is peaceful disobedience at the Olympics itself. Everyone there openly defying the law.

The athletes spend years preparing for their events and in some instances only stand one chance of ever attending an Olympics, yet alone winning a medal.

I think the teams as a whole should show peaceful disobedience. If the Russians decided to arrest anyone, then the Russian federation should be force to forfeit any medals since their legitimacy would be tarnished.

Furthermore, the IOC should withhold any revenue that would be shared so that it in turn diminishes the training programs subsidized by the Russian government. Remember how the Russians used to be dominant in certain sports such as figure skating and how that dominance ended after their training programs were devastated after the break up of the Communist regime that supported them financially?

At first, I wasn't for a boycott. The Olympics shouldn't be about politics, even this hate-filled anti-gay crap; but when politician, and other officials kept opening their mouths and it was obvious the homophobic laws will be enforced, I am now actually afraid for the athletes and more so for spectators and support a worldwide boycott. It would be fantastic if the games could be moved. If they are not, and no boycott is called, then I hope there will be some brave souls who speak out and loud.

I would love to see it moved. Russia would really feel the pain of that. Boycott they would as well but the athletes (all of them) would suffer but that has to be the next step and we should all suffer together gladly to stand up for our fellow men/women.

I do not understand the hesitation here. We have to do something.

At Fri Aug 16, 2013, 08:57 PM an alert was sent on the following post:

FUCK THE LGBT PEOPLE! It's all about the atheletes!
http://www.democraticunderground.com/113730441

REASON FOR ALERT:

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. (See Community Standards.)

ALERTER'S COMMENTS:

This is the same DU poster who says other DU gay rights supporters who call themselves queer (as in Queer Nation) are in violation of TOS and has successfully alerted their posts (having them banned from boards and having posts hidden). Well, saying 'FUCK THE GLBT PEOPLE' is no different (even if sarcastically). Talk about hypocrisy! Please send a message that FREE SPEECH should be defended even if it means he has to learn the hard way!

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Fri Aug 16, 2013, 09:01 PM, and the Jury voted 3-3 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Not even close. "Free speech"? Really? How about I send a message that YOUR ALERT IS FRIVOLOUS? You should be banned from this site, honestly.
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT and said: hide worthy
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Sounds like the alerter has a personal bone to pick here.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

(I voted to leave it alone)

Boycott, the games move the Olympics, or ban Russia from their own games. It's the right thing to do.

And I'm rather glad the alerter failed. I only wish it had been a 6-0 fail so they couldn't alert for 24 hours.

14. Have the Russians banned judaism yet?

A very large number of people who've left russia, and its successors, in the last 30 years have been Jewish escaping the anti-semitism they were experiencing.

Would there be any question if the russian government had said wearing a Star of David or a yarmulke was "propagating Judaism to youth"?

What's so hard to understand?

Go watch "School Ties" and substitute "Gay" for "Jewish" in that movie. Then tell me the olympics in russia should continue.

When that film was made the director didn't think he had a ghost of a chance of having it be about a gay guy so he set it in the 50's and made him Jewish.
