Fox News: It’s ‘The Death Of Free Enterprise’ If Bakery Can’t Discriminate Against Gay Couples

A judge ruled Friday that a Colorado-based bakery shop owner cannot refuse to sell a wedding cake to a same-sex couple celebrating their marriage because of his “religious freedom.”

Fox and Friends asked Masterpiece Cakeshop owner Jack Phillips for his reaction in a Tuesday segment called, “The Death of Free Enterprise,” where they discussed the judge’s ruling as a slippery slope to the end of constitutional freedoms. “This certainly could set precedent in terms of private businesses having to completely shed what they believe personally to offer something to a consumer, correct?” Fox host Elisabeth Hasselbeck said.

“I don’t feel that I should participate in their wedding and when I do a cake, I feel like I’m participating in the ceremony or event or the celebration that the cake is for,” Phillips said.

Free enterprise in principal is only concerned with money. It really ought not matter whose money it is.

It's one thing if you are doing something out of the home and don't call yourself a business, but another when you are in the public sector. Though, there are many who can and do get away with discriminating against gays (and other groups).

the D.A. won't prosecute using anti discrimination laws. Also regular people have to bring a lawsuit. It takes time and money.

The other downside is when someone brings this to the attention of officials, it can lead to further harassment. It is amazing how hate-filled some are.

I am thinking business is business, you want to buy what I am selling? Makes do difference to me who, what or why.

Just buy my stuff.

Idiotic enterprise when you think you can force your customers to fit your beliefs.

Now if I only had stuff to sell.

Rebutting their ignorance. You do have to laugh, though.

Pop over to the thread I posted about the asshole in MI and his theory as to why gays want free healthcare.

Some stupidity is funny, some is sad, and some just makes you scratch your head 'til it is a bloody mess.

Instead I'll point them to this document called "The Constitution Of The United States Of America" (which they clearly don't understand) and the section where it clearly states that religion doesn't get to dictate laws in this country.
