REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
YOUR COMMENTS
The poster claims that Caitlyn Jenner only had sexual reassignment surgery because it was a publicity stunt. And then calls her a "publicity whore". This is certainly hurtful and rude to our transgender and transexual brothers and sisters. Should DU not be accepting of them and not... whatever this is supposed to be?
JURY RESULTS
Someone else already alerted on this post before you alerted on it, and only the first alert was sent to a Jury. A randomly-selected Jury of DU members completed their review of the post on Wed Jun 3, 2015, 08:09 PM, and voted 2-5 to keep IT. Please note that even though your alert was not sent to a Jury, it has been forwarded to the Administrators who review all alerts.
Thank you.

I don't normally post this sort of thing, but I think that someone on DU needs to stand up and support our transgender population. Shall we?
EDIT TO ADD: Just in case this happens to go to jury... please note that this is posted in the LGBT group which is a safe haven for our lesbian, gay, bisexual, and TRANSGENDER friends. This is not a meta discussion, but a discussion of an issue very near and dear to many of our members. Thanks.

(38,506 posts)I have to laugh. It's plain so many people get away with things they shouldn't.
Someone "suddenly" decides to become transgendered for the publicity and the money????
Yeah, right, being transgendered is a choice...
GMAFB...that comment, IMO, should have been hidden.

(1,290 posts)I'm not sure what it will take for people to see trans people in a positive light. I think Caitlyn has helped, but maybe too many people are just set in the old ways. I guess the best way is still have somebody you know personally come out.
Behind the Aegis
(53,991 posts)Just like the "fag" jokes that flew fast and furious during Lindsay Graham's presidential announcement, soon as I saw Jenner was doing an interview (going public), I pretty much knew what to expect in general, and at DU. I wasn't wrong. Homophobia, heterosexism, transphobia are just "buzz words" to them; divisive wedge issues of the left; issues that lead us away from the real issue; economics. The lives of the GLBT are not valued and only have value when it serves their needs or agendas.

(1,962 posts)Welcome to why I lurk, almost never post, and some days seriously consider no longer reading the shit here. I've been reading for almost a decade. I'm tired of the motherfucking hate I see here against LGBT's every day. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. "Mending fences" and the precious jury system haven't changed a damned thing. Discussionist seems to have made it worse, as the bigots there have infested DU. And, it's now to the point that anytime something involving an LGBT hits the news, I just know the bigots will get louder and more in-your-face HERE. Really. The Vanity Fair cover comes out last week, and my first thought was "She's lovely." My second was "I don't even want to see the posts on DU."
It amazes me that someone's wordplay on the c-word is seen as a far bigger offense than the hatred thrown at LGBT's here on a daily basis. Yeah, the c-word is offensive, but holy fuck. How much hatred and bigotry do we have to be subjected to on a daily basis?

Thanks a lot, DU and your jury system. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: It sickens and breaks my heart to come here and feel only SLIGHTLY more welcome than I would in the Freeper Nuthouse. DU better, already.
