Ohio bill seeks to jail teachers if they assist trans kids

House Bill 558 proposes to jail offenders for up to 18 months ... prison sentence which carries the same weight as sex with a minor or grand theft auto.
Further, the bill would not allow the court system to make decisions of parental custody if the parent won't allow their child to transition.

Republican legislature, Tom Brinkman was inspired by a story about a Cincinnati child who was relocated to their grandparent's house after the parents refused to give them hormone replacement therapy.
“HB 658 codifies into the law what we’ve always known: parents have a fundamental right to decide what is best for their children,” said Brinkman.

Ohio trans activists are working overtime against the bill.

“The state policing of behavior opens a can of worms, states Equality Ohio in a release on their website. “Who is the judge of which gender is allowed to do what? If Jane signs up for shop class, will her parents receive a government letter? If Jordan doesn’t want to play football, do his parents get a letter? What if Alex wants to attend a meeting of the student LGBTQ group – does the school email that to Alex’s parents?”

into laws that effect real people in the real world.

Our species has to move beyond the make believe of religion, all religion.

Why do they have to shove their misinformed and judgmental ideology down everyone else's throats? What is the harm of a trans kid going to school? "Reporting people who are different" .... sounds like Nazi Germany.

The language is vague. Does this include a guidance counselor having a sympathetic ear? What about parents who disagree with each other? Can one parent have the other charged?

These self- righteous freaks are hypocrites. They hate government unless it’s interfering in people’s private lives.

I dont agree with just about any rules based on another's religious beliefs, but it seems to infer that a teacher might assist a student i.e. a minor in getting hormone therapy without parental consent. I would probably agree with that if it were indeed a minor and IF this is not just some facade to suppress trans yourh - which I am inclined to believe more than anything else.

One take-away for sure, the news coming out of Ohio over the last few years feels very dark to me.
