Mugabe of Zimbabwe and his homophobia. I'd honestly forgotten about this

Snip-The Advocate in 2016 recognized Mugabe as one of “The Biggest Homophobes of the Last 50 Years.” The faux honorific noted Mugabe’s bigoted rhetoric, such as his declaration gays are “worse than dogs.” The magazine also noted his promise to deny foreign aid and let his own people die during a devastating drought should there be any demand for advancement on marriage equality.
As he faced growing pressure to stop the oppression of LGBTQ people in Zimbabwe, where homosexuality remains illegal, Mugabe denounced Western “gay filth.”
