San Diego's Nicky Awards are coming back in 2022!
The San Diego LGBT News has learned that the popular annual LGBTQ community honors ceremony, The Nicky Awards, will return in 2022!The Nicky Awards have been held since 1975 and have honored decades of LGBTQ San Diegans. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the awards were cancelled for the first time ever in 2020, and again in 2021.
Often been called "The gay Academy Awards of San Diego," Nicky Awards are handed out to people and establishments in San Diego's LGBT community for their part in making positive changes, safe places, working toward acceptance and embracing equality throughout the county. Awards are selected through a community nomination and voting process.
While the date for the 2022 event has not yet been set, community members should soon look out for more information about nominations, tickets, and more.
