A 25-year-old transgender woman from the Bedouin community was seriously wounded in a stabbing incident on Sunday evening on Raziel Street in Beersheba.
According to Magen David Adom paramedics, the woman was found semi-conscious and suffering from multiple penetrating wounds. She was treated at the scene and evacuated in unstable condition to Soroka-University Medical Center.
The woman was reportedly stabbed by members of her family in what police suspect was a hate crime.
The injured woman was semi-conscious and suffered severe penetrating wounds to her body after being involved in a violent incident, MDA paramedics Dvir Ben-Zeev and Lior Ben-Simon said. We provided her with life-saving medical treatment and evacuated her to the hospital in unstable condition.
The Beersheba Pride House NGO condemned the stabbing of the young transgender woman, calling it a violent hate crime and demanding immediate action by the municipality and police to protect the LGBTQ+ community, especially transgender and Arab residents.
"Our blood is not forfeit. We do not deserve to be harmed, not by a stranger and not by a family member," they stated.
