Related: About this forumMy own moment in history....
Yesterday I submitted a letter and supporting document to my employer requesting they develop a transgender inclusive medical benefits policy and remove the discriminatory exclusions found in our description of medical benefits.
I wrote in a letter that in todays society with medical community acceptance and understanding of transgenderism that there is not a viable justification for maintaining financial barriers for transgender employees in seeking transition related medical care.
The supporting document is a white paper from HRC that provides a vast array of information to assist employers in developing trans-inclusive medical benefits.
At worst they will find some reason to fire me.
At best they will genuinely address the issue and form a new policy.
Or....they will simply ignore the request.
Ironically....my employer is a large regional medical center that provides transgender treatment as described by their Endocrinology Department section of the medical center's public website.
Wish me and my other transgender co-workers both present and future luck.
