Bravos Million Dollar Listing New York, a spin-off of Million Dollar Listing, debuts Mar. 7 with real estate agent Fredrik Eklund. We love it when former porn stars find legitimate success, but neither Eklunds official Bravo bio nor press releases make any mention of his stint in the gay porn industry. Good thing weve got the scoop.
Although Eklund very briefly addressed the subject in a 2010 New York Times profile, he really opened up about his porno past five years ago in a Feb. 2007 cover story for HX, a now-defunct LGBT weekly. Unfortunately, the articles no longer accessible online, but we dug it up a hard copy.
I was in a different place in my life, says Eklund, who was approached in 2002 by a Jet Set Studios representative who had seen his photo online. At that time, the ambitious entrepreneur was the CEO of a Swedish Internet company with nearly 50 employees. After two-and-a-half years of building that company, I was exhausted, frustrated and felt suffocated. Everything in my whole life up until that point had been about my brain and studying and making money. So when I got the offer, I decided to take a break from everything, do something a little crazy and see where it led me. And the craziest thing I could think of was to go do porn movies in Los Angeles.
Eklund made a fistful of films under the name Tag Eriksson like 2003s The Hole, for which he earned a GayVN award for Best Solo Scene. He continues:

(55,147 posts)Cmon, its New York, weve all done crazy things and its something I did five years ago, he says. And its something Im not ashamed of. When I look someone in the eye and say, Yeah, I did it, whatever, its easier for people to take in and no one can say anything. But when it comes to who knows and who doesnt, I dont know and I really dont care."

(53,975 posts)I thought about it after posting that it could be seen that way. I was more musing in general. It seems, to me, that some (general) are so worried about this sort of thing. It comes off as sex-phobic in my opinion. I am glad he has a healthier attitude than the man who took his life after being exposed.

(53,975 posts)I have to even remind myself of this. I can't expect people to know how I am making my comment, especially when it is just a one-liner. I guess after reading about the young man who killed himself after being exposed as porn star, articles like this just hock me off a bit.
