A proposed bill to constitutionally ban same-sex marriage in Pennsylvania was blocked and killed by the state's GOP-dominated House of Representatives.
Equality Pennsylvania thanked legislators for putting an end to HB 1434, which it called "mean-spirited and nonsensical."

(61,690 posts)The NC state legislature, newly controlled by the Rethugs, approved the constitutional amendment bill. The language is extremely broad-reaching. It defines marriage between a man and a woman as the only legally recognized domestic arrangement in North Carolina. If passed, it will wipe out legal recognition of all other relationships. It will make it very difficult to enforce domestic protection orders or child support in families with unmarried partners. The language is deliberate, and it was handed to the NC state legislature by outside organizations - they won't say who.
It looks like Pennsylvania was handed the same language and they turned it down. Good.
