X-Men Set To Have Its First Gay Wedding!!!!!

http://perezhilton.com/2012-03-20-x-men-to-feature-same-sex-marriage-in-comic-book

YAY!!!!! We love the folks at Marvel for this one!

X-Men has taken a huge leap in equality when their new series, Astonishing X-Men, has one mutant tying the knot with his boyfriend!

Super speedster Northstar will marry his boyfriend, Kyle, and the progressive marriage marks equality and love for all on two fronts, same-sex and interracial marriage.

We are SUPER proud of Marvel for embracing all of its fans, no matter what their sexuality is.

The best part is that legally there's no loopholes on this blissful union. Northstar is Canadian so he and his hubby-to-be can wed in matrimony under Canada's embrace!

Wasn't he turned into some sort of Hydra killing machine?

Sigh. I guess the only character who will ever stay dead in the Marvel Universe is Gwen Stacy.

He was killed in (I think) issue # 4 of "Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos" way back in the early 60s.

This was when Nick Fury had 2 eyes, was a WWII character and white.

WOW, doesn't that make ME look like an old fart?

PEACE!

You're thinking of the Nick Fury from the Ultimates imprint, one of Marvel's alternate universes.

Yes, I am a complete nerd.

You do know that Nerd is the new cool, don't you?

I've been a nerd since before i knew the word existed.

In some of the cartoon and in the recent movies where he's being portrayed by the great Samuel L Jackson, he sure has been black.

Of course, I can't mention Samuel L Jackson without saying "I'm have had it with these Mighty Fine snakes on this Mighty Fine plane"!

PEACE!

Essentially, the idea was that when Fury was first created, he was based on the coolest guy around at the time, Dean Martin. When they came to update him, around 2000, they asked themselves who the coolest guy around is now and the answer was SLJ.

The Spider-Man mythos has at least two Gwen clones running around somewhere.

As a kid in the 60s & 70s I read both Marvel and DC, but I always liked Marvel more.

Much happiness to Northstar and Kyle. Wasn't he the first Superhero to come out?

PEACE!

The first openly gay hero was Extrano from an obscure DC series called Millenium in 1988. Northstar would have been outed the previous year but the PtB at Marvel at the time chickened out so Northstar didn't officially come out until 1992.

BTW, one of the wedded gay couple is in the military? I love the visual of tiny bagger heads with steam shooting out of the ears.

I also didn't know Archie was part of marvel till recently. Given my age it's been a long time since I have seen a comic book.

Given his previously established character, I'm surprised it would be him getting hitched. I figured Billy and Teddy from Young Avengers would be next.
