Nestled in a remote valley in the California desert is a tiny 26-student bastion of nontraditional education, Deep Springs College ... The education students receive revolves around three pillars: labor, academics, and self governance ... David Neidorf, president of the college, emphasized in an interview that the decision to admit women to Deep Springs was not one motivated by financial or legal pressures, and that enrollment size would remain fixed ... Deep Springs’s acceptance rate hovers around 8 percent. Significantly expanding the potential applicant pool — to include both men and women — while keeping constant the supply of seats at the college will assuredly make fierce competition for admission even fiercer ...

Deep Springs is pleased and proud to welcome inquiries and applications from women for admission to the class entering in 2013 ... The Trustees of Deep Springs voted decisively in favor of coeducation, and are currently working through a legal process to implement this decision. We are optimistic enough to begin recruitment, but legal matters are difficult to predict with complete certainty ...

A school that small, the dynamics will be completely different with women in the mix. Maybe there could be a sister college that's all women?
