Two dozen people protest Supreme Court ruling

SEEKONK - A group of about two dozen people Saturday took the national protest of last month's U.S. Supreme Court decision, which rally organizers say reduces access to reproductive health services and birth control, to the store in this town owned by the national retail chain that was the plaintiff in that case.

One week after protesting at a Hobby Lobby store in Warwick, R.I., the protesters from southern New England stationed themselves outside of the entrances of the plaza leading into the Route 6 store to protest the high court's June 30 ruling limiting what private companies must offer in their health insurance plans.

Steve Ahlquist of Providence, a spokesman for a group calling itself the Secular Coalition of Massachusetts, said his members are opposed to the Supreme Court decision and believe that private corporations should pay for full health care benefits for their employees.

He and the other protesters from Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut, all carrying signs, stood on the grass at the edge of Route 6, urging motorists to honk and shoppers to boycott the chain, which specializes in craft and home decor items....
