I love it!
I think I want to print these out, glue them to posterboard and then laminate them. I know of at least one of my coworkers who will be green with envy if I bring them in, ready to play. (Yes, she would absolutely work out new stories for season 3 with the paper dolls!)

(29,098 posts)I'm totally addicted and counting the hours till the Christmas Episode tomorrow night. My daughter has already watched it twice but I'm holding out....The anticipation makes it even sweeter....

xmas74
(29,674 posts)I'll second it.
Maybe it could be a group not just about DA but about other period/costume shows and movies.
It seems silly but I bet the support is out there. There are many of them available for easier viewing now on Netflix, along with our PBS stations.
The empressof all
(29,098 posts)I loved that one as well...I don't know if it's scheduled to come back or not.
And just the music to Barry Lyndon makes me weep and fall to the floor in a heap!
xmas74
(29,674 posts)it's on Netflix for dvd only and right now I don't have the dvd. (I plan to add it to my plan after I pay off another bill in about three months.) I've heard it's very good, though, and I really want to see it. My local library has talked about picking it up so I'll be first in line to reserve it!
My daughter loves movies like Cranford, which are very sweet. I'm glad-it's sweet yet allows me to indulge in my love of costume pieces!
The empressof all
(29,098 posts)We were totally enthralled and entertained. The accents were a little more difficult to adjust to than Downton Abby...Perhaps because it takes place what in the 1840's or so. I was totally captivated with those women.
OMG---When...(you know who) Dies! OMG...Didn't see that coming (didn't want to totally spoil it for those who haven't seen it--but you have to expect a death in these things somewhere)

(29,674 posts)watched it, then begged to check it out again. (Cranford and Return to Cranford are both available at my local library.)
My daughter's 11 and most kids that age aren't in the least interested in shows like that but she loved them. She also liked Bleak House, which really surprised me, and seems interested in a few more shows.
A group that talks about shows like this and makes great recommendations really would be quite fun.

(29,674 posts)I wonder if it's on Netflix?
Heck, my queue is overflowing, to say the least, and most of it is with costume dramas!

(29,098 posts)Wiki says it was on from 1996 to 2001.. and I was wrong it was the 1930's .... I still have the Wind at my Back Christmas Episode waiting for me on the Dvr...Lingering with Anticipation

(29,674 posts)on dvd, even though the number two stepped a bit away from the books and number three had nothing to do with any of the books. No matter, I still loved those movies. That, and Jonathan Crombie was a good-looking guy at the time. He definitely had that boy-next-door look down pat.

(29,098 posts)I just found out there are two whole seasons 28 episodes worth of Larkrise to Candleford that I haven't seen yet....
And I never saw Upstairs Downstairs either....
I have no time....
I may have to give up DU in order to catch up..
xmas74
(29,674 posts)I would be on Netflix nonstop, looking for new shows.
Of course, I could then come back here to DU and have an entire group of people to talk with about the show...

Edith is such an interesting character. I like how they gave her some purpose when Downton was converted into a hospital and she thrived in her role there. I'm interested to see how she develops.

(7,572 posts)....Downstairs either. We lived in the country with very inadequate TV connections when it was on. Can you get those through Netflix??? Or do you have to buy the CD's?

I've noticed that I am watching Netflix more than regular tv, especially with a Roku box.

(28,151 posts)(so far), absolutely LOVED it! Love Sybil, she's a great character and the actress who plays her is just adorable. Love the whole show. Well cast, beautiful sets, gorgeous costumes, very good character development.
Not surprised to see other DUers like the show!

(14,040 posts)and just finished acquiring season 2. I've been avoiding it on principle but now I'm wrapped up in it. Off to spend another 8 hours with the Crawley's.
