We are Feminists not only when it is comfortable

Being on DU tonight and a whole lot of posts and comments about Ivanka Trumps nipples. Are you fucking kidding me? Objectifying women's body parts because you disagree with their politics? Sounds very Republican to me.
She is nasty. She enablers her father. Her nipples or dress sense have fuck all to do that.
We are better than this.

2. I think it is not about politics at all.

It is offensive to me visually. As a person with eyes let alone a background in fashion and art I find her whole outfit tasteless, especially for someone who is supposed to be a fashion expert with a business in clothing for women. The shirt, the skirt, the fabric, cut, how it fell on the body, etc were all fashion DON'Ts.

3. Everything about her is tasteless. But mocking her nipples, or her fashion sense, is sexist.

I am more offended by the fact that she's there in the first place. Can you imagine the outrage if HRC had won and Chelsea Clinton had been sent to UN meetings? The clothing style is irrelevant.

4. She, as a person in general, is a DON'T.

Critiquing her clothes isn't sexist for me since I do the same for men's fashion statements. I studied it in college and that is what we did.

5. That thread was demoralizing.

For the past year or two, I've been avoiding padded bras because they're uncomfortable, difficult to wash, difficult to store and bad for the environment. I also don't want to have to hide my nipples because a bunch of misogynists deem it offensive. And yet, every time I go out in one of my cotton bras, I'm worried that my nipples will show and people will make sexist assumptions about me (like some of the things that were said on that thread about Ivanka).

I wish more women would throw away those padded bras. The way to get society to accept women's bodies as natural and inoffensive is not by going out of our way to hide our nipples.

ETA: After numerous posts by women who objected to the sexism, the OP deleted the thread, and I am grateful.

history of at least 20 years -- He's had at least FORTY lawsuits filed against him by women in his employ -- Where is the #MeToo Movement?

The Campaign Media Silence -- The same media who stood behind #MeToo, reporting on SO many other rich and powerful men -- has been Deafening -- It a truly appears to be a Media Blackout.
