Taking dogs to work 'reduces employee stress'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-17561272

Even employees without dogs wanted to take colleagues' pets for a walk

Bringing pet dogs to work can reduce stress and make the job more satisfying for other employees, a study suggests.

US researchers found those with access to dogs were less stressed as the day went on than those who had none.

The preliminary study published in the International Journal of Workplace Health Management looked at 75 staff.

The researchers suggested access to dogs boosted morale and reduced stress levels, whether people had access to their own pets or other people's.

He gets overwhelmed and protective when there's too many people around. He's an old dog getting cataracts. He can't see all that well so he barks at what he hears.

I've noticed that most dog owners seem to think that everyone out there of course loves their dogs. Surprise, surprise, some of us really don't care for dogs in general, and there are a lot of ill-behaved dogs out there who have no business in the workplace.

If someone can bring their dog, I should be able to bring my cat.

Don't know how everyone else would feel about having a slobbery tennis ball shoved into their hands regularly though, LOL.

My office is big enough so that I can have them in a crate, and they are quiet and happy to be there. It sure helps me when my husband is out of town and can't take care of them during the day, and the kids (I'm a speech-language pathologist) love when they're with me.

We currently have two beagles in the office. One is really laid back - never heard her bark, not once. Pretty odd, actually.

The other one more than makes up for it.

My husband tends to use the speaker phone. It's a hoot when one of the other guys calls, and his dog barks, then our dogs start barking!
