Kids going off to college with their microwave oven should see this, and anyone else concerned about a 5 year survival rate of only 12% from pancreatic cancer.

The 5 foods are

French fries
Rice
Spinach
Chicken
Roasted potatoes

The video explains what happens during the cooking process and how cooking oils exacerbate the problems in foods that can stimulate the conditions that can kickstart pancreatic cancer.

You need to watch the video if 23 minutes is worth it to anyone worried about going out early like Patrick Swayze or Steven Jobs.

Reheating oils like those fried foods are cooked in so fries, fried chicken or whatever was already cooked in safflower oil, sunflower oil... never refry in oil, use dry heat like air fryer or oven.

The second is reheating sauteed leafy greens like spinach and kale.

Left over rice.

Not heating leftover meats enough promotes salmonella which happens in the microwave most commonly. Says to use the oven at 175F instead.

Reheating cooked then cooled potatoes.

That what he says, if you watch long enough, he seems to be AI generated. At one point, he repeats the same words six times in one minute and pronounces it five different ways. He almost never takes a breath.

The repeated hand movements are a bit jerky and a real giveaway.

So not wanting to watch Dr. Synthetic, I asked AI for the 5 pancreatic risky foods.

Gemini: "No scientific evidence directly links specific reheated foods to a higher incidence of pancreatic cancer. The assertion that exactly five reheated foods increase this cancer risk stems from popular internet and social media claims rather than established medical consensus. However, medical experts and cancer organizations emphasize that certain dietary habits and food preparation methods over time can increase pancreatic cancer risk.

Current oncology and nutritional research points to the following risk factors regarding how foods are prepared and consumed:Charred or Burned Meats: Cooking proteins (especially red and processed meats) at high temperatures—such as grilling, barbecuing, or pan-frying—creates heterocyclic amines (HCAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). These compounds are considered mutagens and are associated with a higher risk of pancreatic and gastrointestinal cancers.Processed and Cured Meats: The World Health Organization classifies processed meats (e.g., bacon, hot dogs, sausages) as Group 1 carcinogens. They often contain nitrates and nitrites that can form carcinogenic nitrosamines in the body, which studies link to pancreatic cancer.High Sugar and High-Fat Diets: Diets heavy in refined sugars, fructose, and saturated fats exhaust pancreatic beta cells, promote insulin resistance, and lead to obesity—a well-established risk factor for pancreatic cancer.

I have a dear friend who died from pancreatic cancer so I’ll be reconsidering my reheating habits. Thanks for sharing.

The studies about nitrates and nitrites are more convincing. My dad died of pancreatic cancer--one thing I remember about him is his love for such nitrate laden products as sausages, braunsweiger, bacon, and jerky.

for me it serves as a reminder of my friend and also for me to reconsider my diet. Sometimes I get distracted. I’ll certainly do some research.
