There is also Stop the Thyroid Madness, but they can be a little militant about self-medication.

Had to reply when I saw your post. I am a thyroid cancer survivor (papillary & follicular) since total thyroidectomy in 1977. I have some suggestions, but am wondering what your situation is. Is this about cancer or other thyroid health issues, such as autoimmune problems. This can vary so much. I have spent many years online on websites, and learned a great deal more than I knew when I started sometime back in the late 1990's. When I had my surgery, there was nothing available. I am very grateful for the internet for making this information highway available. For you, it does depend on what you are dealing with. If you could provide a bit more information it would be easier to send you in (hopefully) the right direction. Would you mind expanding on your situation? I will look for follow-ups from you.

Almost 57 yrs old male.
Discovered a nearly 3cm complex nodule on my lower right lobe during a CT Scan about 2 years ago.
3 FNA biopsies and two of these tested via the Afirma test at Veracyte labs: http://www.veracyte.com/afirma/.
My blood tests are all normal. I feel healthy.

All three biopsies have came back no signs of cancer however the nodule looks suspicious due to granulation and vascular activity.

Last check-up, and which is why I had a third biopsy, is because it had grown slightly.

It is a bit uncomfortable. I am having a bit of "compressed neck syndrome". It affects my swallowing at times even though the doctors say it shouldn't. I feel it all the time.

I am trying to decide having one half of my thyroid removed so I can be sure it's not a malignant tumor.
My wife has had her's mostly removed years ago and I see the hell she has gone through trying to regulate her replacement medicine. She started with Synthroid which didn't work. Then to a dessicated thyroid Armor Thyroid which worked but they changed the filler so she has now gone to a dessicated thyroid from ERFA in Canada but as you may know with desiccated thyroid you can get uneven and not uniform batches at times. ERFA Thyroid: http://www.erfa-sa.com/Thyroid/english/mono_en.html.

So here I am wondering if I can live with one half of a thyroid without going on medicine. Wondering if I have a malignant tumor in me.

I am leaning towards removal.
