Tales of the City - Netflix

"Tales of the City" focuses primarily on the people who live in a boardinghouse turned apartment complex owned by Anna Madrigal at 28 Barbary Lane in San Francisco.

The previous episodes of the first 3 seasons are available on YouTube. I like these better that the current Netflix version. I recommend watching these before the Netflix version to better understand the characters.

Netflix has a new version out these days which picks up from the previous episodes from the 90's. It reminds me of our time in the "Montrose" area of Houston where my wife and I first met and lived from '69-'74. It had very similar vibes as those depicted in the series. I can honestly say that it was the best place we ever lived. A area of downtown Houston neat the museum district that was at the time an affordable place made up of hippies, college kids, gays, and just an eclectic mix of open-minded people. Some our best friends ever are from those days (those that are left).

I loved Tales of the City on Netflix and then I read the original articles by Armistead Maupin. Nice to know there is another set to see.

gave us one more time with Anna Madrigal and I’m grateful for that. (Not true to the last book, but satisfying, nonetheless).
