The Harder They Fall- Easily now in my list of all time favorite movies- Netflix

As a kid I loved Spaghetti Westerns. Maybe it was the experience of watching these movies with dad. While this is not the first Black Western, it is definitely my favorite. I absolutely loved the reggae songs on the soundtrack, and if anyone is a Lauryn Hill fan. What a treat.
While fictional, it is inspired by the lives of some real people. It’s also a timely film in terms of discussions about historical inaccuracy. As a kid watching Shane, Magnificent Seven, and so many others, I had no idea that there were black cowboys. I had never heard of Stage Coach Mary.
The real stage coach Mary was the first black USPS employee. A bad ass gunslinger that protected the mail. That’s not how she is portrayed in this movie. But again it’s. this is a fictional movie.

Meet Stagecoach Mary, the Daring Black Pioneer Who Protected Wild West Stagecoaches

Would-be mail thieves didn’t stand a chance against Stagecoach Mary. The hard-drinking, quick-shooting mail carrier sported two guns and men’s clothing.

On Saturday matinees, we had Gene and Roy and on the local TV, Channel 13 (Newark, N.J.), we had "The 4 O'clock Western Roundup" with Tom Mix, Bob Steele, Ken Maynard, Lash LaRue, The Duke and on and on.... every day.

Clint Eastwood couldn't have done it better.

And the New Mexico I know is beautiful.

It was okay. After all the rave reviews, I was expecting a lot more.
