Really, blackface?

I decided to watch Do Not Adjust Your Set on Amazon Prime due to half the cast going on to Monty Python afterwards. The show had a regular musical segment featuring the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and in one episode there they were, dressed like African natives in blackface singing about a monster. I was internally cringing and thinking "really? this shit is happening in the 60s?" The worst part though, is that several website are labeling the show as a children's program so it's "blackface for kids!!!"

A word of warning for any python fans that are looking for other shows starring the same cast members.

in Charleston, WV, put on an annual minstrel show to raise funds. Blackface, the whole nine yards. I graduated in 1965.

Where you could buy a "slave" (one of the jocks) to carry your books for you throughout the day. The money went to some charity. That was pretty horrible, looking back on it. The chant, The South Will Rise Again" would be shouted at football games as well.
