TIA or not TIA
2 minute change in my wife's vision in the lower half of one eye led to full workup by the stroke team.
MRI, CT, echocardiogram, Holter monitor, blood work, PT/OT evals.
Spent the night, started aspirin and statin. Recommended the Mediterranean Diet. No driving for two weeks to three months depending on the anxiety level of the various docs.
No symptoms after the initial episode. Test results all within normal limits. Scans showed nothing but "senescence changes." Yes, we are getting older, every day.
Now, she and I have something new to worry about.
If this isn't nice ...

(1,763 posts)A scintillating light pattern in the same field of both eyes, for example lower left field in both eyes. It lasts for maybe a half hour. It never progressed to anything and happens rarely. I don't know what her other tests showed.

I don't think the docs are terribly worried about it or she'd be on a blood thinner instead of just aspirin and a satin drug. Oh, and the Mediterranean diet never hurt anyone, it's light and fresh and contains lots of fish, all good and good for you.
This could be a TIA or it could be an eye problem, but I'm sure the docs looked at that one, too.

(10,557 posts)Seems like its becoming more common because lots of threads about this. One forum about 40 people said they had total work up and drs could find nothing.
