Meeting a fellow DUer for beers downtown a little nervous...

I helped out a woman who is travelling here as a tourist. Gave her a bunch of suggestions and the like and she now wants to meet for a few beers and a chat at a local bar. I agreed cause I thought hell why not, I need to get out of my comfort zone. It's not really a date since it's just meeting a random person for a friendly chat, though I suppose you could construe it as one if you wanted. Either way I'm nervous about it as I never do these things lol, pathetic.

It is entirely normal to be nervous about meeting someone for the first time, esp. when you've only had online contact with them before.

But you're doing this right. Meeting in a public place is always a good step.

Enjoy your beer and the conversation!

Social things are difficult for me and I've always received hell from my peers for it when I was younger so I've long avoided most socializing in general. I'm fine with casual talk among friends at school and the like but one on one stuff is still difficult at times, though I think I put on a good image. I think my biggest difficulty really is how much I put myself down for being this way. Thanks for the support!!

Even though you and I have never talked except here, I know you're a good person. I have no problem supporting you.

I wish you the best, always!

Good for you. It's heartwarming that you are a little nervous. You just want to make a good impression. It's sweet.

Best of luck. Let us know how it goes.

But I appreciate the sentiment, I know what you mean.

I've always avoided most one on one social contact with people because of my anxieties. I don't mind in small groups and the like and actually do very well there but this kind of thing has always been my kryptonite But I NEED to get out of my comfort zone and experience life.

No reason why I can't considering it was an innosent meeting between to people but just in case. Anyway like I said it went very well. We met up at a pub and had a great time talking for a long time about politics, and news and much more

Yes I feel a positive emotional momentum I haven't had in years. I do intend to keep it going as long as I can. I'm not going to count my chickens quite yet though as I've had many up swings before and always ended up in the ditch. But there IS something different about this one.
