i started my new hospice volunteer gig and it is really rewarding. i get to use my 2 favorite super powers- mesmerizing little kids and giving hugs.
and passing out xmas cookies.

the only bad part was that i lost my car keys, and my car is sitting in the hospital parking garage. wouldnt have been so bad, but my other set of keys went walkabout a few days before and for the life of me i cant find them.
but, this too shall pass.

finalized my divorce the week before xmas, so all my legal headaches are behind me. feel like i have been through so much the last 2 years that nothing can ever break me. even my shitty kids.

My wife got home around midnight (part of the longer story...) and said the car's interior lights were on. This is an old car. There is no timer. If the interior lights are on they stay on.

Fine, I went outside to turn them off. The car's doors were locked. I never lock the doors.

Went inside the house, couldn't find any of the keys in the usual places.

My wife tells me to wake kid up.

I thought probably not a good idea because I'd be sorely tempted to drive off in a random direction until the car ran out of gas. I'd just filled the tank, so near 300 miles at least...

Being the somewhat responsible adult I am I figured it was best to not wake my kid, go to bed, and not worry about a dead battery.

We've got jumper cables.
