Doesn’t sound quite as balanced as yours, unless the cake counts as a vegetable.

I once made them myself and it took all day! I said never again. So we buy them and have for years. Steamed and fried. Add water, then let it steam off and give them a golden brown exterior.

just as good. Yes steam and then fried. So good.

Kind of like homemade sushi vs store bought.
Just buy at a good Japanese restaurant.

The magic of three is almost any vegetable mixed with a mixture of cocoanut, garlic, and chiles de arbol.

The Landlady(!)'s beach house on Ocracoke Island needed some heavy-duty work so we're in a seafood capital.

Shrimp cocktails on iceberg lettuce with cherry tomato halves, lemon wedges and cocktail sauce.

Baked filets of flounder stuffed with crab meat topped with lemon slices and served with tartar sauce.

Steamed asparagus with flecks of red bell pepper.

Sliced apple, cheddar cheese and red wine for dessert.

The short ribs cooked all day in the slow cooker. Carrots and baked sweet potatoes on the side. A bit heavy on the orange vegetables, but it was tasty and I’ve definitely met my vitamin A requirements.

I really, really need to do a grocery order, lol!

I went with a mish-mash of whatever was on hand and could be chucked into a bowl: rice with diced ham and finely diced granny smith apple, seasoned with a little curry powder and a dash of cayenne. Green beans on the side, because why not?
I’ve had better, I’ve had worse.

For dessert: the last of the Chex Mix and nuts drizzled with white chocolate. Dang, it’s good, and I’m not a white chocolate fan.
