(2,018 posts)The grocery stores just reopened but are unstocked with any dairy, breads, most veg, etc.
So I just started a loaf of poppyseed honey wheat, and dinner will be pan-fried venison blackstrap with rosemary, and broccoli.

(2,018 posts)About the worst Ive had to do this week is watch out for neighbors, bake my own bread, skin and butcher a deer that had died of cold, thaw pipes in one room, help a friend get a grant done in the last minute at my place after they temporarily lost power and all cel data, and conserve water like crazy so the town could try to rebuild pressure after repairs. Had to work to stay warm for a while - even with power, its tough to stay warm with -13 wind chills.
Im about 45 minutes out of San Antonio. Lowes stayed open with limited hours, and HEB was totally closed for a while, then open only about 5 hrs/day. Not that it matters, when theyve been cleaned out like its the apocalypse. People were waiting hours in line to get in anyway, and were limited to 15 items. In another day or two, all should be well. My office has been trashed - flooded, with professional cleanup starting today. So, theres problems in town, but weve been taking care of each other.

(22,037 posts)We came into NYC this morning because the Landlady(!) got her second Moderna shot this afternoon. My appointment is tomorrow.
Here's what we're ordering:
Mulligatawny soup
Chicken vindaloo
Aloo paratha
Dahl
Raita
Onion relish
Basmati rice
Gulab jamun (a sweet milky preparation where the liquid is separated from the milk solids; it's kind of like warm ice cream)

(5,661 posts)Did you put the eggplant flesh in too?

(38,560 posts)it came out really good.
(there was a little garlic in it too)
I love to stuff things... zucchini, eggplant, peppers.... the meal ends up being vegetable-centric, and always VERY affordable.

(22,037 posts)I've never had a stuffed eggplant. I'll have to get the Landlady(!) interested since she's a lover of eggplant. Last summer, she grew about 25-30 in her mini-greenhouse so we ate a lot of recipes this past Fall.
I cooked a slice of ham in my cast-iron grill pan. Roasted potatoes and zucchini on the side. Cheesecake for dessert.

(5,661 posts)With chorizo as the protein. Have some corn tortillas that I will strip up and fry crispy. Could have tacos but wanted the crunchiness instead of soft corn tortilla. Have power greens and a bunch of cilantro to use up.
