What's for Dinner, Sat., May 29, 2021

Pasta bolognese. Grated parmesan and homegrown basil to go over the top.

It is so nice to walk out the door and just chop off what I need for basil.

Pomegranate kombucha to drink.

Now, dessert. Well, I observed the aphorism "eat dessert first." I went care for my friend's bulldog because she is on a day trip. I stopped at WF on the way home and found these wonderful chocolate bars. They are called Theo Bars and they come in different flavors. I had half of a salted dark chocolate. I also bought a cherry almond chocolate.

And I love bolognese, so you out-ordered me.

Tonight is pizza night here at the mac residence. The dough is rising as we speak. The toppings will be onion, bell pepper, mushroom (heavy), italian sausage, pepperoni, and mozzarella. I believe we have plenty of basil on the plants outside, so I should be able to add some after it comes out of the oven.

Nothing like homemade pizza - except for a pizza made at a restaurant where pizza is made correctly. Few exist in my town. Save the Tuscan Oven in Pensacola, FL where they bake pizza in a wood fired oven. They rock! Tuscan Oven is an hour away from me, and there is always a long wait for a table so it's homemade pizza this evening. 2nd best.

but they are all frozen solid soooooo....it's a variant on "porcupine meatballs", those meatballs that incorporate rice in them. We jokingly call them "porcupine balls". This iteration will be ground pork and I will use a bottle of G Hughes SF Polynesian Dipping sauce for the cooking sauce as I'm doing them in my Instant Pot. I'll add some chopped pineapple at the end and accompany them with stir-fried green beans. Dessert will be the last of this batch of homemade cookies and cream frozen yogurt.

My grandson is visiting and has a thing for rice and beans—especially any Indian version of rice and beans. So tonight I nuked a packet of Tastybite Madras lentils, served it over basmati rice, and made my grandson happy.
