What's the best way of disposing rendered fat.

I have a 2 lb coffee can filled with grease. What's the best way to dispose of it? I could throw out with the trash that goes to the transfer station, but I don't think this is the best way to do it. Any suggestions on getting rid of this stuff?

I got it kinda easy tho, we take our own waste to the dump, no pickup, so I can ask Joe who is in charge of the dump what to do.

Main Monday afternoon entertainment everyone’s there. Better than Facebook.

My only problem will be the raccoons who show up at night and completely wipe out the suet.....

if liquid put it in a milk jug or other container with a lid.

if bacon grease, use it to flavor and fry with.

They deep fried a turkey and left the oil outside to cool before dealing with it. Later they found the dog lethargic after drinking a good amount of it and dumping the rest on the lawn.

Trash it, if you aren't going to cook with it.

Home rendered fat is only usable for soap after multiple washes with boiling water, until it's snow-white and odorless. The tiniest impurity will make your soap smell funny at best, and go rancid in mere weeks at worst. I've tried it a few times, pork shoulder does yield a ton of fat; it's not worth the effort for the return.

Plus in order to safely make soap, you need to know what kind of fat it is, and if it's a mixture of e.g. chicken and pork, you need to know the exact ratios. Unreacted lye is a catastrophically bad thing to have in soap.
