What's for Dinner, Wed., Sept. 15, 2021

Club house crackers with roasted chile & pepper jack cauliflower dip.

Tossed green salad for dinner, 'cuz it's so hot here. I'm actually going to have two separate salads because I want to try out new salad dressings and/or have different ingredients, such as shrimp or chicken.

Using a few shrimp I didn't use in last night's corn/shrimp fritters, I'm going to have one tossed romaine salad with shrimp, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and scallions. The dressing I'm trying out for this one is a no-calorie honey-Dijon dressing.

Next up with be another no-calorie dressing, thousand island. This salad will be a mix of spinach and romaine, and will have chicken cubes cooked in the air fryer, cheddar cheese, sliced mushrooms, green pepper, and red onion. Also yellow pear tomatoes and fresh peas.

Dessert: watermelon.

because it's been a 3 donut day.

I discovered a couple crooked things at the super today. I might have mentioned blackstrap 12 oz labeled as 16 oz. I know it's 12 oz because it sits beside the 12 oz national brand. This in a regional super. This is downright fraud.

In the eastern US super, the discounted bagels kept ringing up at full price despite having a closeout tag. The checker couldn't put them through, so she removed the charge and waived them through. Said that department will get dinged they've been having a lot of problems in re: pricing. Two weeks ago they had donuts in the discount section without discounts. I have to think this is not random, or they're incompetent with new employees. So if you have an eye for it, keep an eye on prices at the checkout. Cashier actually thanked me for catching it at the checkout, said that's better than taking it to customer service. Sounded like this prevented someone from getting in trouble. But what do I know.

Whole Wheat flour GM 5 lb, was $3.49 and $3.52 in regional and national stores in mid July. Then $4.12 in both. Then $3.99 in regional. Now $4.39 in both. So those are % wise hefty increases.

In food prep got a great deal on Quinoa and McCann's steel cut oats. Found out they can be soaked overnight to cut cooking time. In fact the oats don't have to be cooked, and last for 5 days. Not too keen on that, but will give it a try.

Anytime I go to the Midwest, I'll stop at a Culvers if I can find one. The burgers are good and I've always had good customer service.

I didn't understand the part about the dairy pills, though.

We discovered Culvers when we lived in Wisconsin and were thrilled to see that the Cleveland area has them too.
