2. A family tradition!

We grew up with Mom and Grandma spending a day preparing the dough in a big turkey roasting pan, covering it and leaving it to rise overnight. Then they'd spend half a day making the aebleskivers. Every Christmas morning our breakfast was aebleskivers and hot cocoa. I'm no longer able to make them myself, I simply cannot stand for any length of time. So I gave my skirted cast iron pans to my nephew and his wife, and now they make them.

Our recipe came from the great-grandparents who were immigrants from Denmark, and there is nothing on earth that has that delightful aroma. My sister, God bless her, finally found a way to reduce the recipe; the original made enough to feed whole neighborhoods. Nowadays, I get to enjoy aebleskivers when I go visit for Christmas, a sweet hello from family long gone.

Enjoy!

since it was on the menu and we were feeling like we needed some "home cooking" after living away for many months. My friend and I got our order and we were surpised when we saw these round puffs of joy.

and she got a pan for $12. I read the comments and the comments from the Danes said to use butter, not oil. They also mention similar treats from Japan which has squid and stuff cooked inside them. I saw Anthony Bourdain eat these on Parts Unknown or No Reservations.
