What's for Dinner, Sat., Oct. 30, 2021

Soup and crackers.

To be specific, mushroom wild rice soup, which I changed up by adding tarragon. I also had some ground beef to which I added chopped tarragon and made tarragon meatballs to put in the soup.

Even though I've been cooking most of the day, I haven't been able to finish any one dish yet, so I had to stop and have an early dinner because I was so hungry.

On the cracker plate, I made some (multigrain) crackers with sliced avocado and sea salt and some with feta cheese and red pepper slices. Also a few with just plain butter (not really butter, though, one of those olive oil substitutes).

Dessert will be a few chocolate-covered, sea salt caramels. Decaf.

Made it to the store today. The chicken was a special. Prices going up but I think they're padding the holiday season and will be surprised at the slowdown because everyone stocked up already so prices will drop next year.

The store had some nice looking mushrooms and broccoli yesterday, so I got enough to make a couple different things.

and a sandwich - likely a ham on rye toast with mustard

FLFC is having ground beef, a half a Vienna sausage and apple, all chopped small as he needs now. The beef is 90-10 and he is not as happy with it as the 75 or 80 percent lean.

That he is still with us a year after the vets predicted his rapid demise is a blessing.

Found them marked down at Kroger today! On a toasted bun with bacon pepper jam.
And a chopped salad with bacon and ranch dressing.
There's several kinds of Talenti gelato in the freezer if anyone wants any.

based on this: https://www.spendwithpennies.com/instant-pot-mushroom-risotto/

My son wanted apple crisp, and peeled and sliced the apples, and I had crisp topping socked away in the freezer, so that's dessert.
