(12,386 posts)I'll make a bechamel with added Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese and scented with a few fresh bay leaves, pinch of fresh nutmeg.
Using Black Forest ham, homemade Amish white bread and smoke Gouda cheese.
The Monte Cristo will be paired with homemade roasted tomato soup...using canned San Marzano tomatoes.
I'm still debating the option of using Dijon mustard on the sandwich....jury is still out.

(146,218 posts)They are bringing in some fresh supplies and love to cook. We have coordinated menus and have the whole week planned out.
Tonight, I will cook for them.
I have some butternut squash ravioli from TJ's (highly recommended, btw) which I am going to serve with a cream, walnut and fresh herb sauce.
A big salad on the side to use up what fresh produce I have left and we are good to go!
Hope your chinese is good. After eating that 3 nights in a row, I am done with Chinese for a bit.

(35,675 posts)I envision many laughs exploring that site. I had not even heard of The Oatmeal. And the bobcats are cool, too.
I am also laughing over the sleepy troll remark upthread.
What a treat for me for dinner tonight--spouse came in from the airport and stopped at an Ironbound Portuguese restaurant and ordered a meal for me: crab rolls, salad, rice, potatoes, mixed vegetables, and the entree is shrimp.
Then shortly after that arrived, a friend just stopped over and left us the most fabulous dessert! Raspberry sorbet with whipped cream!
Hey why shouldn't I get lucky once in awhile?

Been in the garden since 6am, mr beac is still away and so a tarted-up packed dinner it is.
That and opening a can of pumpkin for the dog is all the "cooking" I can handle for today.

For supper (a low-key family birthday) chicken breast chunks marinated in greek dressing with oregano and lemon and mint. Caramelized a bit, then served with mesclun, feta chunks, tomatoes, cucumber. Pita bread, tszatziki.
And rhubarb pie for the birthday girl.
lots of boats on the river today. And fourteen fuzzy baby Canada goslings toddling on the lawn with assorted parents.
A pretty good Sunday!

(9,791 posts)We had hot dogs cooked over the open fire. It was too hot in the house to cook so we sat under the canopy out back and had dogs and some ice cold beers for supper.
