And now, for something completely unexpected

Potato cakes for dessert!

John Townsends has a YouTube channel that focuses on cooking recipes and techniques from the 18th century. He also has a side business making and selling authentic clothing and accessories as well as kitchen utilities all based on those from America in the 1700s. In his episodes, he tries to replicate all of the kitchen elements from that earlier time. The Landlady(!), aka, my wife, is addicted to the show and has tried many of the recipes, mostly with success.

Enjoy!

And there are a few channels that do it. There's Tasting History with Max Miller, which is a lot of fun. He examines historical recipes as far back as he can find them. Older recipes are tougher, of course, because almost none of them include amounts.

You can find Max here: https://www.youtube.com/c/TastingHistory

And then there's B Dylan Thomas over on Tiktok. Little short videos of older recipes. Some are good and some *really* aren't. He has an extremely energetic delivery, too!
