Related: About this forumLooking at meat grinders online thinking of going electric
The boyertown hand crank we have broke I have no clue how old it was as it was given to us by my grandmother.
The only manual one Im interested in is the Weston yet now Im thinking electric. Any suggestions on electric grinders would be appreciated price range $150 max thank you in advance.

(55,019 posts)If you own this machine, just get attachments. No need to buy another motor.

(24,319 posts)We use ours quite a lot. Someday I'm going to attempt sausage, which the meat grinder has attachments for. Also the pasta maker gets a lot of use here, too.
We've had the mixer for about 15 years. They have gotten kind of expensive since then, but what hasn't?

(14,176 posts)and I save so much money making my own that I end up buying expensive flour (00 and semolina) and still save money over buying it myself. Plus I can make better ravioli than I've ever gotten commercially.

(3,985 posts)I do have to cut meat into strips and push down but its worth the hassle. I know my ground chicken, Turkey & beef isnt contaminated.
And once in a while, I grind up marked down rib eye steaks for the most delicious gourmet burger.
And then whip up a batch of heart healthy crème puffs with the mixer.
My grinder is 15 yrs old & still working. Do drape a kitchen towel when grinding beef.

(9,995 posts)I got it from my mom. Somehow it disappeared during the divorce and move. No idea what happened to it, like a lot of things. I'm skeptical of a lot of electric things because we get power outages, besides which there is the storage factor and that old hand-cranked baby took very little room.

(17,018 posts)our daughter got us. I make sausage from pork loin. Not often, about 4 lbs each time, chopped in chunks, processed in several batches. The Ninja makes a nice texture. I don't use it for anything else, although she meant for us to use it for smoothies.
